I always draw so much inspiration from the weddings my flowers feature in. From the little details to the bold gestures, it’s a fine balancing act to get each of the elements working in harmony together. This week I wanted to share with you Steph and David’s wedding. Steph took me through some of her experiences and motivations in the run up to their summer wedding in the Lakes last year.
Steph told me of her and David’s preference for something small and stress free when they held their ceremony in August last year.
“The wedding was held at Langdale Chase hotel on lake Windermere. It was an amazing hotel with stunning views and really friendly staff. I wanted it to be laid back, not too much to organise. A small family wedding with a slight vintage feel in the beautiful setting of the Lake District.”
But they certainly showed that a spectacular setting can transform your wedding, big or small.
“I was so impressed with the venue as a whole. The hotel was beautiful and the photographs looked amazing. The grounds and the lake were just stunning. We had an hour long boat trip on the lake where the speeches and toasts were done. I think the boat trip made the day.”
She also, very kindly, and unprompted of course, took the time to compliment her choice of flowers.
“I loved my flowers as did the bridesmaid, they really suited my dress and I love that I still have my bouquet on display. The flower girls bouquets doubled as table decorations with the beads supplied which looked lovely. They also took them home as presents!”
Steph’s final comments were sage advice to anyone planning their wedding.
“Don’t over analyse and worry what others may think, do what you, as a couple, want. Organisation is the key – I was not good at this and was lucky that things fell into place. I also had a very lovely sister who did a lot of the hard work!”
“I wish I hadn’t worried and been so nervous beforehand.”
Some of the fabulous suppliers that Steph and David used are below. Certainly plenty of food for thought!
“Katie Dale did amazing hair and makeup. She was lovely and calming and weeks later could tell me what she’d used so I could buy it.”
