Being new to this blogging malarky I decided I had better get organised so I thought I’d have some monthly themes sharing where I live, behind the scenes snaps of the studio & my work space, new products etc. Todays post is all about sharing things I like where I’ll be sharing other designer makers who I follow & inspire me, but also just things that I love & where better to start than with my Christmas goodies!
Now I LOVE Christmas! All the twinkly lights, glittery decs & cosy nights. Oh & legitimately drinking prosecco all day & eating my own body weight in chocolate… & Michael Buble of course… the list really is endless! Gift giving however is always my favourite pastime & this year I tried to buy all of my gifts from independent makers.

It was great to support the handmade community & gave me an excuse to buy all the goodies I’ve been seeing on Instagram all year from makers such as Oh Squirrel, Kate Rowland & Toasted Glass to name a few & all went down a treat!
Santa was very kind to me too & here are a few of the gifts I was so lucky to receive. The first I actually chose for myself… I usually prefer a surprise but having wanted a satchel from The Cambridge Satchel Company for what feels like forever, when they had a big sale it really was a no brainer. My lovely hubby kindly obliged & then I just had the agonising wait while he refused to let me have a peek in the box before the big day… he can be a stubborn bugger!
I totally love it! I mean not only is it completely beautiful – I mean look at it! – but it is beautifully crafted with such quality. They have a January sale at the moment if you want to snap up your own bargain, I’m not even letting myself look…
Stationery is a big love of mine & I was lucky enough to be given a variety of new pens, stamps & some Oh Squirrel pencils. Hubby had noticed I had bought lots for others so he “thought I might like some myself”… he’s a keeper!
My good friend Cat gave me this Harry Potter colouring book… I mean is there any better combination in life?! Now just to decide where to start!
Christmas themed gifts were also a popular choice this year ranging from christmas pyjamas & a knitted Christmas pudding cushion – oh yes – to decorations including this beautiful hand-lettered bauble by G for Gina Designs given to me by my friend Claire along with a whole heap of other Christmas treasures!
One of my favourite gifts this year has to be this gorgeous vintage tea-cup pin cushion & scissors. Not just because it is beautiful & super useful but because it was given to me by one of my students. Having moved schools this year I wasnt expecting any gifts at all, let alone one which is so thoughtful, a lovely surprise & one which is sitting pretty in the studio waiting for this years sewing adventures!
With my family we don’t buy presents for each other but instead put the money we would have spent towards a weekend away so that we get to spend time with each other instead, so I still have more to look forward to! This year we are off to the coast in February where I expect some cold beach walks & copious mugs of hot chocolate…. can’t wait!
So I hope you all had a wonderful festive period & were spoilt with some goodies under the tree, feel free to share any of your favourites with me in the comments below!
