2016 so far…

Anyone else feel like this year is whizzing past at a rate of knots?! I had planned to have a monthly re-cap on the blog but we are now at the end of February & I am yet to write one… oops! So here’s a little recap of 2016 so far…

January was full of planning, getting organised in the studio & starting my year long project #daphnerosainbloom. My motto for 2016 is to ‘Just go for it’ – well that’s the zero profanity version! – & this encouraged me to reach out to a designer I have admired for a long time for a collaboration with the Azaleas which I’ll be sharing on the blog soon. If you want to see something she created with my blooms do come over to Instagram for a peek, it’s super pretty!

I used my first We Make Collective box in January & fell completely in love with brush lettering. If you want to know more about the box check out my blog post here, & I have my new box which focusses on dyeing which I’ll share with you all soon.

January also saw my first opportunity to work with a brand & I jumped at the chance to work with Dylon dyes to create an alternative Valentine’s bouquet, full DIY here. The romantics among you also kept me busy in the Etsy shop with leather rose orders too.

I was also I asked to be an ‘expert’ in a recent County Weddings magazine & write a little about bridal accessories for this year… not the last time my head shot would be requested so far this year!

Outside of the business I had a lovely trip to London to see The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime which was a Christmas gift for my husband. If you havent seen it already I would highly recommend it, like nothing else I’ve ever seen in the theatre. Afterwards we managed to squeeze in some of the Lumiere light festival too…

February started with a trip down to my favourite stationery store KikkiK for their first UK workshop – see here for more info.

I became a godmother for the very first time in February too! Such a privilege to be asked & such a lovely day celebrating Newman’s christening.

Newman is a big lover of bunnies so I had always planned on making Newman one for her christening gift. However I happened to find Holly from TillyBobBunny on Instagram & instantly knew I couldn’t make anything as beautiful. I was even able to choose the fabric, colour of the cheeks & whether the scarf was blue or pink! So adorable, excellent quality & Newman loves it!

February’s #daphnerosainbloom flower was the Daphne & I tried working with clay for the first time. I tried some other uses for the material too including this gift tag, giving me ideas for possible future products.

Lastly I managed to squeeze in some quality family time staying in a cottage by the sea for a long weekend. It really was a dream location & sitting in front of the log burner playing board games was exactly what I needed to take some quality time off, something I really need to make more time for this year.

To finish the month in style the lovely H & Sammy from Love it Love it Make it interviewed me for their blog… cue second request for a picture of my face!

So if you want to know more about me & how this all began head on over here & give it a read!

Phew, the start to the year has certainly been busy! I’m excited for what March is set to bring, especially as it’s my birthday month! Woo!

Have a great weekend!
